10% of all profits go to charities

Philanthropy has always been a dream of mine... However, while traveling around the world has opened my eyes in many ways, I am pleased to have started a ministry which gives back to the suffering people in this world. In September 2022, my husband and I went to a country in Indonesia called Bali.

Bali, the enchanting Indonesian island known for its lush landscapes, pristine beaches, and vibrant culture, is a destination that captivates the hearts of travelers from around the world. I originally choose this destination because it looked like a beautiful destination.

I found out about it when I noticed several luxurious tagged photos from "travel influencers" and "instagramers".

The majority of photos I saw, were taken by instagramers traveling to temples, beaches and resorts with amazing views of the forests and nature.

But amidst the picturesque beauty and tourist attractions, we stumbled upon an experiences that profoundly impacted our lives and changed the way we perceive the world.

For my husband and I, our trip to Bali was one such transformative journey, where we canceled our planned tour and, guided by serendipity and a remarkable guide named Buda, found our purpose in giving back to the less fortunate.

Our adventure in Bali began like any other traveler's—exploring iconic temples, savoring delicious local cuisine, and soaking in the breathtaking landscapes. However, fate had something extraordinary in store for us when we crossed paths with our tour guide, Buda. It was almost ironic how his name, Buda, meaning "wisdom" in Balinese culture, would come to symbolize the heart and soul of our journey.

During this trip, our tour guide, Buda, suggested that we take a tour to a temple on the other side of the island. However, we later found out that this temple was over 2 hours away, with at least 2 hour wait for "the most taken photo of Bali" and then another two hour drive back to our hotel... We were already exhausted from our travels, so we asked our tour guide to instead take us to his village. He was surprised that we made such a request...

Canceling the Temple Tour and Following Our Hearts

While our initial plans involved exploring Bali through a guided tour to the most sought after Instagram photo, something within us urged us to take a different path. It was during an insightful conversation with Buda that we learned about the pressing needs of the less fortunate people and remote villages in Bali. It was as though the universe was conspiring to lead us towards a greater purpose. We made the heartfelt decision to cancel our tour and redirect our resources towards helping the impoverished communities of Bali. This unplanned detour became the turning point of our trip and the birth of our philanthropic mission.

Touching Lives and Making a Difference

Venturing into the heart of Bali's lesser-known villages was a humbling experience. We witnessed the resilience and spirit of the people who, despite their limited resources, radiated warmth and hospitality. Our encounters with local families, children, and elders left an indelible mark on our hearts.

We began our journey of giving by providing essential supplies, educational resources, and support to these communities. The smiles on their faces and the gratitude in their eyes reminded us of the profound impact small acts of kindness can have on people's lives. All the while, sharing the Good News of the gospel of Christ.

With Buda's help we were able to bring groceries to the less fortunate and support families in need. We reached out to the elderly, crippled and the sick. We supplied each household with coffee, noodles, rice, sugar, bread, eggs... etc.

With the remaining funds, we also supplied students with school supplies, as well as Indonesian Rupiah currency to support their education dreams.

The vision God gives us in Revelation 7:9 — a multitude from every nation, all tribes and peoples and languages — fuels our desire to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. But, we must be willing to go further than ever before — to the edges of lostness.

Our time in Bali inspired us to commit to a life of philanthropy. We realized that our travels were not merely about sightseeing; they were about connecting with humanity and making a meaningful difference.

To sustain our efforts, we decided to allocate 10 percent of all profits from my novel, "The Secret of Moon Lake," to our growing ministry and foundation.

Our mission extends beyond Bali's borders as we aspire to help people internationally. The experiences in Bali have ignited a fire within us to continue our journey of compassion and giving. As we reflect on our travels to Bali and the unexpected turn of events, we are filled with gratitude for the lessons learned and the lives touched.

We invite others to join us on this path of philanthropy and to explore the world not just for its beauty but for the opportunity it offers to make a positive impact on the lives of those less fortunate. Even just a small amount can make a difference...

Bali, with its stunning landscapes and rich culture, is more than just a tourist destination; it is a place where the heart and soul connect with the essence of humanity. Our travels to Bali allowed us to embrace the beauty of compassion and giving, transforming our lives in the process. We look forward to continuing our mission of helping others and grow as we journey through life.
